Sister Jean's Story

By trade, Jean Webster had been a chef in the Atlantic City hotels and casinos. Due to a heart condition, she was forced to retire. On retiring, she was struck with what she saw on the streets and back alleys of Atlantic City: hungry people eating out of trash cans. Starting by cooking in her own home, she dedicated the rest of her life to simply making sure people who were hungry were fed.
